In the ultra-premium world of the performance luxury SUV, all contenders are pretty evenly matched. The basic criteria in the segment goes something like this – be fast, comfortable, really expensive, charge tons for optional extras, and boast a ‘look at me’ design. On pretty much all of these counts, the Bentley Bentayga absolutely smashes through without any hassle. It is large, brutish, has a Bentley badge, gets a powerful and thirsty engine, and features loads of cowhides and wood on the inside. Not too long ago, the posh British carmaker had introduced its ‘Beyond100’ strategy. This will see the marque launching several new and updated models in the coming years, including the 2021 Bentayga.

The title might not suggest it, but the 2021 Bentley Bentayga is more of a facelift than an all-new model. It had its global reveal in the mid-2020s, though this is the first time it is coming to our shores. Bentley says that the new Bentayga is available for direct bookings in places like Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. With prices commencing at Rs 4.10 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), the purchase of the 2021 Bentley Bentayga will impact your net worth by quite some margin. Of course, if you can afford an extravagant luxury SUV like this, you probably have a few bank accounts in the Cayman Islands or something. Now, let’s get to why you might even consider the new Bentayga. For purposes of research, we will start from the exterior.

When reflecting upon its predecessor’s design, this 2021 Bentayga hosts a few changes. For starters, Bentley has redesigned the large mesh grille up front and tweaked the front bumper as well. The result of this is a face that appears to be more blunt and angrier towards those peasants who can’t afford it.
Meanwhile, the optional LED matrix headlamps will do a great job of scorching retinas of those whom you don’t want ogling at you. Oh, did you know that the new Bentayga has 22 washer jets in each of the windshield wipers? Yeah, it does. Does it need those many washers? Well, probably not. But it is pretty cool, anyway. Bentley has also redesigned the rear portion of the 2021 Bentayga so it now sports a full-width tailgate.

Some of the last exterior changes come from the new alloy wheels that are exclusive to the Bentayga. Then there is the repositioned license plate holder, redesigned LED taillights, and reprofiled split-exhaust pipes at the back. The Bentley Bentayga continues to be an SUV that holds immense presence on the road, a feature that buyers love.
On the inside, the 2021 Bentayga sports a beautifully handcrafted yet sophisticated cabin. As mentioned earlier, there is plenty of leather and real wood, along with real metal and luscious carpet. This being a Bentley, build quality and fit-and-finish isn’t even a real concern. Almost every surface and touchpoints feel expensive and solid – and of course, they are.

Bentley has been listening to its customers intently when it comes to the cabin. From the feedback that it has received, the British brand has worked on increasing rear legroom and kneeroom on the 2021 Bentayga. In fact, the legroom in the back has gone up by 100mm, which may not sound like much, but it is quite significant.
On top of this, the new Bentayga features an updated 10.9-inch touch-infotainment system that now supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Furthermore, there is a wireless phone charger, a digital driver’s display, a Breitling analog clock, contrast stitching with customizable seat piping, ventilated & heated seats, soft-closing doors, a rear-seat entertainment system, and a 20-speaker Naim audio system with 1,780 watts.

On the power front, the twin-scroll 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 petrol engine pumps out an impressive 542hp and 770Nm of torque. How much is that, you ask? Well, that is enough might to propel this 2.4-ton luxury SUV to 100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds! Keep that right-most pedal plugged to the floor, and you will soon be doing 290 kmph. For reference, the angrier Lamborghini Urus is faster by only 15 kmph.
Of course, to comfort you along with shocking your senses, the 2021 Bentayga has a few tricks up its sleeve. This starts with the incredibly smooth adaptive dampers, followed by loads of acoustic damping and the fantastically comfortable leather seats. Trust me, at the end of the trip… you wouldn’t want to step out of the 2021 Bentley Bentayga.
