2021 renault triber launched with dual-tone colors & new features, priced from rs 5.30 lakh

In India, there are only two really relevant subcompact MPVs that are actually on sale as such. Between the two, the Datsun GO+ is the oldest and least interesting. However, that is not exactly true for the Renault Triber. And though it has been a little time since it was first debuted in our country, the Triber hasn’t fallen through many cracks. But in a bid to make it an even more appealing prospect, the French auto marque has given the MPV a facelift and launched it as a 2021 model. The 2021 Renault Triber remains mechanically unchanged over the older model, but it does get some new features and colors.

The Datsun GO+ is the only direct rival of the Triber

One of the things to note here is that Renault has hiked the prices of the Triber for the 2021 model year. For instance, the base RXE trim now costs Rs 5.30 Lakh – that is Rs 10,000 more than before. The RXL costs nearly Rs 2,000 more (at Rs 5.99 Lakh) and its AMT version cost Rs 7,000 more (at Rs 6.50 Lakh). The same applies to the RXT trim which now starts at Rs 6.55 Lakh (up by Rs 7,000), while its AMT avatar starts at Rs 7.05 Lakh (up by Rs 12,000). Finally, there is the RXZ trim which now costs Rs 7.15 Lakh for the manual and Rs 7.65 Lakh for the AMT. This means their prices have gone up by Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively.

What is new here is that the range-topping RXZ trim of the 2021 Triber is now available in dual-tone colors. Renault is offering five different dual-tone paint schemes on the Triber, and for that, you will have to spend an extra Rs 17,000. Moreover, the carmaker has replaced the outgoing red mono-tone paint with a classier brown shade. Among the list of features that are new for 2021, the Triber now gets a dual-tone horn (across trim levels), integrated turn indicators in the door mirrors (on RXT trim and above), a height-adjustable driver’s seat (only on the RXZ trim), and steering-mounted audio & telephony controls (on RXT trim and above).

The “eagle beak” taillight of the Triber looks good

Meanwhile, the rest of the 2021 Renault Triber remains totally unchanged and is thus carried over. This includes the exterior and interior styling as well, so the MPV looks the same as it did before. Still, for a subcompact budget MPV, the Triber doesn’t come across as too cheap or under-built. And if you go for one of the top variants with a striking dual-tone color, you won’t be too disappointed. Meanwhile, the interior of the Renault Triber features several different textures, shades, and design details that look pretty decent. Of course, there are plenty of hard plastics in this cabin and you will be reminded of that if you feel any of the trim bits. But considering its price, the Triber’s interior isn’t shabby at all.

On the equipment front, the 2021 Renault Triber has everything that its predecessor used to offer. Its features list includes keyless entry & go, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. When it concerns safety, the updated Triber ropes in up to 4 airbags (on the RXZ trim), ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, and impact-sensing door unlock. However, even though this is an MPV that would be primarily bought by families, the Triber doesn’t offer ISOFIX points. That is a strange omission in what is a rather practical family car.

The Triber’s boot is large enough if you take out the third-row

The 2021 Renault Triber uses a naturally-aspirated 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine that produces just 71hp and 96Nm of torque. Depending on your preference, you can opt for either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Given its compact dimensions, the Triber could be an alternative to cars like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo.
