The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport is a peculiar compact crossover. It’s not as long as most compact SUVs, yet longer than most subcompact SUVs. It’s more expensive than the average compact SUV and much more expensive than the average subcompact SUV. How does the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport compare to the 2022 Subaru Forester?

The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport | Ford

The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport starts at $29,215. It uses a turbocharged three-cylinder engine to make 181 horsepower. The Bronco Sport gets 25 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon.

The Ford Bronco Sport is praised for its off-roading capability and many customization options. It comes in six different trim levels. The 2023 model year introduces two new trim levels, the Heritage and Heritage Limited. According to MotorTrend, these trims take inspiration from the OG 60’s Bronco. It comes in Base, Big Bend, Heritage, Outer Banks, Badlands, and Heritage Limited trims.

The Bronco Sport has 7.8 inches of ground clearance. It’s an anomaly in its class because it isn’t quite like any other small SUV on the market. The Bronco Sport is more expensive than the more popular Toyota RAV4 despite having worse fuel economy and producing fewer horses. It isn’t as comfy or well-equipped as some of its main rivals like the Mazda CX-5.

The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport is close in length to some subcompact SUVs but wider and taller than most. It is 173 inches long, 74 inches wide, and 70 inches tall. The popular Toyota RAV4 is 181 inches long, 73 inches wide, and 67 inches tall. So, the Bronco Sport is classified as a small SUV or compact crossover, but its length is similar to subcompact SUVs like the Mazda CX-30. The Bronco Sport comes standard with all-wheel drive, a terrain management system with five driving modes, and 12-volt powerpoints.

The 2022 Subaru Forester checks plenty of boxes

The Subaru Forester has a whopping 8.7 inches of ground clearance. It comes standard with Subaru’s suite of driver assistance features. The small SUV includes a traction control system, brake assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The Forester comes standard with a keyless entry system and an engine immobilizer. It starts at $25,895. The 2022 Subaru Forester uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to make 182 horsepower. It gets 26 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway.

The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport | Ford

The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport makes nearly the same HP as the Subaru Forester. The Forester has superior fuel economy.

The Bronco Sport costs $3,320 more than the Subaru Forester. In fact, the Forster Premium trim is also more affordable than the Bronco Sport base model. The Forester also has more ground clearance. If you need to choose between the two SUVs, the Forester provides more value for the money based on its gas mileage, affordable price, and standard features. The Ford Bronco Sport is ideal for drivers looking for an alternative to the Ford Bronco.
