The new Peugeot e-208 will share the e-308’s electric technology, increasing range by 10.5%
- Range increased to 248 miles
- Power up to 156bhp
- Arriving in 2023
Peugeot has revealed an improved all-electric Peugeot e-208, using similar technology to the recently announced e-308 to deliver much improved efficiency, power and range. An initial upgrade to the e-208’s efficiency already came in late 2021, but the latest announcement will mean a much more significant upgrade to the car’s figures.
The e-208’s maximum power will increase by 15% from 136bhp to 156bhp, while improved efficiency means energy consumption is down to just 12kWh per 100km (62 miles). According to Peugeot, this should result in a range increase of 10.5% to a total of 248 miles on a single charge from its 51kWh battery.
These improvements come on top of the changes introduced in late 2021; including a humidity sensor installed on top of the windscreen to improve the efficiency of the heating and air-conditioning system. This allows the occupants to control the air recirculation more accurately and therefore conserve the battery’s energy when heating and maintaining the cabin’s temperature.
The Peugeot e-208 comes with a single-phase 7.4kW charging cable as standard, and there’s the option of a three-phase 11kW charger, too. It’s capable of 100kW fast-charging, meaning it’s possible to charge from 20% to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
Depending on the country of sale, the new Peugeot e-208 will be available to buy online, and customers can even arrange trade-in of their old car and set up finance from their smartphone, laptop or tablet. The improved e-208 goes on sale in early 2023, and while pricing hasn’t been released, it’s likely to cost slightly more than the current model, which starts from £30,195.
