The price of luxury can get sky-high depending on what you’re looking for. If you want every comfort feature imaginable, a high-horsepower engine, and the looks to match it all, you could easily spend close to $100,000.

However, there are plenty of luxury sedans that cost less than $40,000. As an added plus, some of them are pretty fuel-efficient. Here are seven examples that won’t make you cry at the pump or break the bank.

3. 2022 Genesis G70 – 24 mpg combined

If you’re looking for a luxury car with a unique sense of style, the 2022 Genesis G70 has you covered. The G70 looks unlike anything else on the road with its split headlights and mesh front grille. It also provides a sporty ride with its potent turbocharged engine and athletic suspension. However, if you can control your right foot, you can expect to get up to 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.

4. 2022 Mercedes-Benz CLA – 29 mpg combined

If you’re not into German or Japanese luxury cars, then the 2022 Cadillac CT4 could be more your speed. For around $35,000, the base CT4 comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, an 8 -inch-touchscreen infotainment system, and a well-appointed interior. As an added plus, the CT4 returns an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway in RWD form.

6. 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class – 28 mpg combined

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class might be the brand’s most entry-level model, but that doesn’t mean it skimps on the luxury features. With a base price of around $38,000, the 2 Series has plenty to offer, including a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that’s paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car’s athletic suspension complements its power well, and to top it all off, the 2 Series can also get up to 28 mpg in combined driving.

The most fuel-efficient luxury sedans under $40,000

Although a luxury sedan can easily cost close to $100,000, it doesn’t have to. You can find that a lot of cars under $40,000 have a lot to offer in terms of performance and opulence, in addition to fuel efficiency.
