A new gameplay trailer has hit for the upcoming update of space survival-horror shooter classic Dead Space, and the gore is more full-on than ever!
The 2008 outing has been completely rebuilt, and with EA’s Frostbite engine in play that means a serious upgrade in the graphical department. We didn’t realise just how harrowing poor Isaac’s plight really was!
The now classic story has also been bolstered by the addition of new narrative elements, to make the experience onboard the USG Ishimura all that much more immersive.
Other improvements being touted include a new Peeling System, “which introduces layered flesh, tendons and bones that break, tear and shatter in shocking new ways.”
Then there’s the Intensity Director, which “dynamically adjusts what shows up in Isaac’s path, from Necromorph spawns and how they choose to attack them, to environmental effects such as light, smoke, particles and sound. Isaac’s heartbeat, breathing, and exertions also adjust based on his stress level to provide players direct feedback into his mental, emotional and physical state.”
Isaac will also be a bit more chatty this time around, with new voice work from Gunner Wright, who played the charcater in the original sequels Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3.
Rounding out the improved experience is that it will be seamless. Once players are underway, we’re promised no loading screens or camera cuts.
Dead Space launches on January 27, 2023 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-order now at JB Hi-Fi.
