Apple is investing a lot of resources to bring sports to its users this year. Just recently, it partnered with Major League Baseball for seamless streaming of Friday games on Apple TV+.

Apart from that, the Cupertino tech firm has also collaborated with Major League Soccer for the MLS match broadcast for a decade. This will be effective at the start of 2023.

Since Apple wants to engage in sports-related partnerships and content, there’s also a possibility that it’s planning to introduce a sports-centric app for iOS and watchOS users called the “Apple Sports” app.

The company has not yet officially confirmed if it will release this application, but a known designer has provided an early concept for this app.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, designer Parker Ortolani has teased a potential concept for the Apple Sports app. As we know, this app is focused on bringing sports news to the table including the match scores, trivia about a player, and more.

For Parker, it could count as the “ultimate sports hub.” for avid sports fans. Similarly, its design can be taken out from the book of Apple News and Apple TV apps.

Of course, you won’t lose sight of the best sports broadcasters in the country such as ESPN and NBC. You can find almost every sports stuff here thanks to its third-party channels that will provide the information you need to know.

Three Pillars of Apple Sports App Concept

In another report by BGR earlier this week, there are three distinct sections for the Apple Sports app concept that Ortolani shared on his Twitter.

The first pillar is the “Ultimate Sports Hub.” This is where you can get fresh updates on your Apple Watch about your favorite athletes, news, game schedules, and scores. It’s a one-stop platform for those who want to be updated at all times.

The second pillar is all about “Watch Games Anywhere.” In this section, you can review your favorite highlights from past matches and games in the leagues. You can start streaming videos via Apple TV Plus, as well. If you want to save your clip for your next visit, you can bookmark them right away and share it on social media.

The last pillar of the Apple Sports App concept is “Follow Your Favorites.” This particular segment focuses on the various sports leagues, teams, and players. It offers a handy tab where you can access all the information you need to know about them.

Aside from that, Ortolani suggests that the Apple Sports app could adopt Player Cards and Scroll for Stats. For card collectors, this feature is a must because it can easily show you the stats and recent images of a player.

Apple’s desire to keep sports on the go is also evident when it replaced Pepsi as the official sponsor for the NFL Super Bowl Halftime show.
