News, Ubisoft, Mobile, Assassins Creed

Assassin’s Creed is finally getting its long-awaited adventure in feudal Japan, but another anticipated setting is on the way: Ancient China. Of course, for many fans this will prove a real monkey’s paw moment, because Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade is in development for smartphones – not consoles. It’ll be the first full, open world entry in the series on iOS and Android.

The game will be set in 215 BC, and you’ll be able to scale the Great Wall of China with a touchscreen. In addition, you’ll be able to design your own protagonist, as the title will feature a full character creator. Ubisoft stopped short of sharing any specific gameplay footage, but we didn’t get the impression a release date is all that far away.

In addition, Ubisoft has partnered with Netflix to produce three games for the streaming service’s mobile app, and one of the trio will be another Assassin’s Creed smartphone game. This will be accompanied by a live action show, although again it’s keeping the specific details underwraps like a hidden blade. Clearly, there’s lots of Assassin’s Creed to look forward to, though!
