In Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, the DMW (Digital Mind Wave) is an intrinsic system that will allow you to get various limit breaks, level your materia, or give temporary buffs in battle. In order to get 100% completion, you will first need to register all 18 DMW Images (7 Characters, 11 Summons), and then you must get 100% for each of the DMW Images. Unlocking all DMW Images will reward you with a Fury Ring and Limit Break Collector , while getting 100% completion for all DMW Images will reward you with Genji Armor and DMW Master .
All Character Images will unlock automatically through story progress, whereas the Summon Images will unlock from completing certain missions. One Summon Image is missable however, Phoenix. This can be acquired in Nibelheim in Chapter 8 by talking to the boy and then inspecting the water tower. In order to get 100% on each DMW Image, you will need to roll their limit breaks. Summons will be easy to get 100%, as these will only require a single limit break to register as 100%. Characters however are a lot more complex. In order to get percentage towards a Character Image, you will need to see specific memories. You will know you are about to see a memory as when it is about to roll onto a certain character’s limit break (the left and right image on the DMW is the same character), there will be a blue pulse that goes across the screen before it shows the memory. These memories will become available through story progression, so before you are even able to see them all, you will want to be at the end of the game.
Each Character will start at 10% DMW Completion, and you will need to see six unique memories for each character. Four of these will increase it by 10%, while the last two will increase it by 25%. For Genesis, you will only need to see two memories, which will increase it by 45% each, however he is a lot harder to see memories for as you will need to roll onto Genesis Mode before you can get his limit break/memories. You will get many of these through normal progression while playing the story and completing missions, but there are several methods for making these easier to obtain in general, and for specific characters.
The DMW can be in multiple different states (Low, Normal, High, Sky High, Heavenly), and the higher the state the more likely you are to see limit breaks, and thus memories. This can go up or down when you roll a limit break, but the best way to increase this is by rolling Cissnei’s limit break: Lucky Stars. When you use this limit break, it will increase the DMW state by 1 to 4 levels, depending on the level of the limit break.
There are several stores in the game which will allow you to buy purple DMW-related Materia, which when equipped will increase the chance of rolling that specific character’s limit break. You can stack multiple for one character to increase it even higher, or equip various different ones. DMW Materia for Sephiroth, Angeal, Tseng, Cloud, Aerith and Cissnei can be purchased from Research Dept. QMC+, which can be found inside a chest in Gongaga in Chapter 9. This is missable, so make sure you get it while you’re in Chapter 9! DMW Materia for Genesis can be purchased from Online Shop Shade, which is a reward from completing Mission 9-5-4: Abnormal Power.
As you progress through missions, it is worth having a Lucky Stars materia on if you can spare a materia slot to increase your chances of limit breaks in general as you play. If you want to grind any character in particular, the best way to do this is to equip 2 Lucky Stars materia, and 4 materia for the character you are trying to get. Then load up a simple mission like Mission 1-1-3: 50 Shinra Troopers and simply stand around and wait. Depending on how many memories you need for a character, this might take a while. Alternatively, just keep playing through missions and you’ll get a majority of DMW progress done naturally.
You will need to complete the current fight you are in for memories to register, and also complete the mission. If you die in a fight after getting a new memory, or abort a mission without completing it, you will lose those memories!
