Not for Windows users. Das Keyboard promises MacTigr provides “a premium Mac typing experience.” Photo: Das Keyboard

Unlike so many keyboards, the MacTigr is specifically for Mac. The designers at Das Keyboard included Mac-specific keys in a low-profile mechanical keyboard made of high-quality materials.

In addition to Cherry MX Low Profile Red mechanical switches, the accessory is packed with extra features, like a volume knob, sleep button and even a two-port USB-C hub.

Das Keyboard MacTigr has it all

“Mac users have been deprived of having high-quality, mechanical keyboards designed specifically for macOS,” said Daniel Guermeur, cofounder and CEO of Das Keyboard. “Our new MacTigr is built to last and helps users achieve the highest levels of productivity and creativity, while the low-profile switches and soft PBT keycaps produce a supple, satisfying action.”

The keyboard starts with the aforementioned Cherry MX Low Profile Red switches for the keys. These are designed to withstand 100 million keystrokes. The keys also have low-profile double-shot PBT keycaps.

MacTigr uses a 105-key layout with command and option keys. Going beyond the standard layout, it also sports media buttons for play, pause, skip and rewind. Plus there’s an eject button and a pair of brightness buttons.

All this goes into a chassis with a heavy-duty, matte-black stainless steel top and a gunmetal-gray aluminum unibody. The accessory takes up the minimal amount of desktop space given its more-than-complete set of keys.

The MacTigr launched Tuesday, and is priced at $219. It’s available in the US through Das Keyboard, Amazon, and other online retailers.
