Expand Carefully
At the start of a game, you are essentially given a blank slate and a series of tiles. While you can place them however you want, in order to progress, you will need to plan your tile placement. Typically you want to place tiles together with like tiles. There is also no time limit, so you can expand and place tiles how you want as slowly as you want.
Plan Rivers and Tracks
Rivers and tracks add ambiance to your little village, but they can also interfere with other tiles. This is because rivers and tracks must be expanded in a straight line unless you get specific tiles that can end them. This can cause dead tiles where you cannot place other tiles. So be sure to give yourself plenty of room when placing one of these two types.
Look at Edges
Tiles have six edges which can be farmland, village, forest, grasslands, and more. Be sure to line these up and place them so that one tile’s edge matches the adjacent tile’s edge. This gets you more points and works towards your challenges, which can reward you with new tiles. Placing a tile down that matches all six edges with surrounding tiles will reward you with a Perfect Tile worth a lot of points.
Complete Tasks
Certain tiles will give you a task or quest, which is represented by an image and number above the tile. These typically ask you to join a certain number of tile types, such as a villages, forests, etc. Completing these will reward you with more tiles to place and allow you to continue playing. Some will ask for a specific amount, and others require a large number, so be sure to pay attention to this.
Undo Button
Dorfromantik has an undo button for if you make a mistake or want to move a tile you just placed. This is helpful for testing whether or not you can make a Perfect Tile or match edges. Your stack of tiles shows you what tiles are upcoming, so this can also be used to determine your tile placement.
