Playing Fortnite on virtual reality devices is something promising. With groups already exploring more ways to enjoy the game, like adding in-game infrastructures and high-performance content, many people wonder when Epic Games will jump to virtual reality.

Unfortunately, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney already has an answer for Fornite fans: it is not happening. In an Interview, Sweeney told The Verge that bringing the hit online shooter game to will not work well.

With this, the Epic Games chief said that his company currently “has no plans” of building the Battle Royale game in virtual reality platforms.

Fornite VR Is Not Happening

According to Sweeney, Fortnite players engage in fast-paced environments that involve intense motions. Sweeney says this environment cannot be emulated in virtual reality and will not work.

But the Epic Games CEO also said his company would be interested in partnering with companies like Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta on other metaverse projects. This idea is very plausible since the metaverse platform shares the same concepts as multiplayer modes and immersive gameplay.

Last year, Meta acquired the developers of the Oculus shooter game “Population: One.” This game is Meta’s answer to games like Fortnite. And like the famous Battle Royale game, Meta’s acquired game has recently added a Sandbox mode.

Android Central tells us that the new user-generator content creator will allow “Population: One” players to build their maps and game modes. The mode will also allow for open-ended possibilities that players can share with others.

More Reasons

Sweeney did not mention it, but another reason Epic is not interested in joining VR could be its lackluster appeal to the public. Zuckerberg’s metaverse project has been the center of criticism in the past couple of months following a noticeable decline in value and unflattering results.

Since renaming the company to Meta and focusing on VR projects, Meta has continuously observed a dip. The company’s stock price fell more than 70% in less than a year, with shares falling 23% after it missed its earnings targets.

Meta recently dropped out of the top 20 most valuable firms in the United States. On Nov. 9, Zuckerberg announced that Meta would lay off over 11,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce.

Furthermore, The Verge points out that VR is not widely used yet, and it does not look like the cost will be coming down anytime soon.

More About Fortnite

In other news, Fortnite recently found itself at the end of a new class action lawsuit after parents argued that their children experienced symptoms of addiction to Fortnite.

Insider reports that a Canadian Supreme Court judge authorized a case against Fortnite company Epic Games filed by Quebec parents who voiced that their children seemed to be severely dependent on Fortnite and stopped eating, sleeping, and showering as an effect.
