It's finally happening!

Ever since the new Ford Bronco was revealed, fans of the Blue Oval have been clamoring for a Raptor version. Fortunately, Ford isn't the type of company to say no to taking more money from its customers, and about a year ago, the company officially teased the hardcore off-roader for the first time. In the time since, we haven't seen all that much about a Raptorific Bronco besides another confirmation earlier this month. It seems that Ford has used that year productively, as the latest teaser is not of a high-flying Bronco covered in camouflage but rather one that gives us a glimpse of what to expect.

Unfortunately, all Ford has given us is the above video and the following caption: “Today, Ford Performance is excited to share a sneak peek of one of the Bronco special edition vehicles that will be available in 2022. More details will be shared later.”

Luckily, earlier information tells us a little about what to expect. For one thing, there will be two different trims of the Bronco Raptor, with the base model reported to be designated under the internal code 373A and a more premium model carrying the code of 374A. We also know that the Bronco Raptor will be a four-door only.

As for powertrains, it's too early for that sort of information to be released, but our guesses have been pretty good in the past. Our feeling is that the Bronco Raptor will come with either the 400-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 or its big brother, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that is good for 450 hp. The latter is the engine used in the F-150 Raptor, and there it does a fine job. In the smaller body of the Bronco, this power plant could be exhilarating. We also expect the other usual upgrades for a Raptor – improved suspension (likely from Fox), aggressive skid plates, and unique styling. We'll report back once we have more.
