Row upon row of the new-generation Ford Everest has been seen parked on the docks of the Port of Brisbane

A large shipment of the second-generation Ford Everest has arrived at the Port of Brisbane as dealers hoard stock ahead of the official on-sale date in September.

Images showing several rows of the new Everest and Ranger ute stock were shared on social media on Thursday, after the cars were said to have arrived early that day.

It comes after a Ford Australia employee shared an image of an Everest in the Ambiente grade wearing Victorian licence plates earlier this week, though this particular model was shipped in for press activities, not customer orders.

The Everest was originally slated to go on sale in August alongside the Ranger Raptor but has since been pushed back, as was the regular Ranger ahead of its Australia launch last month.

Armed with a V6 engine option for the first time, the Everest appears well-placed to take on rivals such as the Isuzu MU-X, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and even the Toyota Prado.

New Ford Ranger in brief

The second-generation Ford Everest is based on the same T6.2 chassis as the Ranger and will feature a similar line-up of engines, headlined but a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 sending 184kW of power and 600Nm of torque through a full-time four-wheel-drive system.

A 154kW/500Nm 2.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel four-cylinder will also be offered with the option of rear- or four-wheel-drive, with both engines mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford will offer the Everest in a choice of four grades, consisting of the Ambiente, Trend, Sport and new range-topping Platinum.
