You may find the issue in question due to disabled settings. In such cases, simply changing the settings and enabling it will resolve the issue. Here’s how you can do the same:

Google Chrome:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Go to the address bar and type the following and then enter:chrome://settings
  3. Go to the Languages option.
  4. Now, turn on the toggle key of Use Google Translate.

Microsoft Edge:

  1. In the top right corner, click on Settings.
  2. Now, select Languages.
  3. Switch on the toggle key of Offer to translate pages that aren’t in a language I read.

Once you do this, relaunch your browser and check if Google Translate is working or not.

2] Use Incognito mode

microsoft
Extension sometimes interferes with Google’s Translate module, leading to its improper functioning. To solve the issue, you can either use Incognito mode or disable all the extensions, one at a time to see the one causing the issue. Open Chrome and click on three dots and select New Incognito Window. If you are using Edge, hit Ctrl+Shit+N to open InPrivate Window. In case you are using Firefox, click on the Menu button and select the New Private window. Now, open a foreign language webpage and check whether the language is automatically changed to English or not.If it is changed to English then the problem lies in your extension. In that case, just go ahead and disable extensions one by one to find out which one is the culprit. Once you find the one causing this error, either disable or remove it.

3] Delete the cache

microsoft

The issue in question might happen due to a corrupted cache and cookies of your browser, therefore we recommend you delete it. Once you delete the corrupted cache, fresh ones will be recreated as soon as you launch the browser. Follow the prescribed steps to delete the cache:

Google Chrome:

  1. In the address bar, search the following:chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
  2. Now, click on the Advance tab.
  3. Set Time range at All time.
  4. Tick the boxes next to Cookies and other site data and Cached Images and files.
  5. Finally, click on Clear data.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Launch Edge.
  2. Click on the three dots and then select the Settings option.
  3. Click on the Privacy, search, and services tab.
  4. In Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.
  5. Set the Time Rane to All time, and tick all the boxes.
  6. Now, click on the Clear data button.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox and click on the three lines.
  2. Navigate to the Settings option and then go to Privacy & Security
  3. Select the Clear data option.
  4. Tick the box next to Caches web content and then select the Clear button.

Once you have deleted the browser cache, Google Translator will start working. If there’s no such luck, then move on to the next solution.

4] Use the Official Google Translate browser extension

If you don’t want to waste time executing previous solutions then you can try installing the Google Translate extension. This way, you won’t have to wait for the Google Translator to pop up, you can just use the extension to translate text. Here’s how you can install the extension:

  1. Go to chrome.google.com, microsoftedge.microsoft.com, or addons.mozilla.com and you will be redirected to the respective web store.
  2. Add the extension to your browser
  3. Now, once it is added, go to the webpage you want to translate.
  4. Select the Extension symbol from the address bar and click on Google Translate.
  5. Select the Google Translate extension icon and then on Translate this page.

Hopefully, this will do the job.Yes, Google Translate has made its extension available for all browsers. If you are Edge, Firefox, or Opera user then you can download the Google Translate extension, and this way you can use it whenever you like on websites with mixed or foreign languages.
