Checking the IP Address on Microsoft Windows
If you are a Windows user, there are three ways to find the device IP. While the first two methods are standard, the last one can differ slightly from every Windows variant.

There is a very simple command that allows Windows users to check their IP addresses. The command we mention is a part of a bigger network flushing process. Here are the steps to check your IP through the CMD tool –
Launch your Command Prompt window. The easiest way to this tool is by searching for it in the taskbar search panel (Windows + S).

nslookup myip.opendns.com resolver1.opendns.com
Hit the Enter key to execute this line. When the results appear, look under the Address section. You should be able to see the IP to the active network.
If you are looking to find the IPv6 IP address as well, you can run the ipconfig command also.
Control Panel
The Control Panel also houses options to view and adjust the network. This can be used to check and change the IP address and DNS. The Control Panel interface has not changed much in the last four Windows versions; So the procedure is not different.
Use the following steps to find the IP address through the CPL window –

Windows 10

Windows 8.1

Windows 7
Launch the Control Panel window on your PC. In the Network and Internet section, select the View network status and tasks link.



Checking the IP Address on Mac
If you have a MacBook, there are two ways to find the computer’s IP address.
macOS Terminal
Go into the Applications folder and move to the Utilities folder. Launch the Terminal tool. When the script window appears, execute either of these commands based on the active network – USB LAN – ipconfig getifaddr en1
Wi-Fi – ipconfig getifaddr en0
Public IP address – curl ifconfig.me
System Preferences
Click on the Apple icon at the top-left corner of the window. Choose the System Preferences option from the pop-up menu. From the left panel, choose the Network option. WiFI users have to click on the Wi-FI option. Users with a USB connection have to use the LAN or USB option.
Checking the IP Address on Chromebook
If you have a Chromebook, you have two options to find their Private IP address.
Chromebook Settings
Expand the system tray by clicking on it. This is located in the lower-right corner of the screen. At the top of the tray, select the Settings option. Wait for the window to appear. Choose the Network tab from the main menu. Select the wired or wireless connection option, as per the connection type. Move down the page to find the IP address. You can use these options to set a manual IP address as well.
Web Browser
Launch the Google Chrome browser on your Chromebook. Type in chrome://system
in the address bar and hit the enter key. Bring up the search tool by pushing Ctrl and F keys, together. In the search overlay, look for ifconfig. When you see it, click on the Expand button adjacent to the ifconfig option. Locate the wlan0 section and the inet line, specifically. The three numbers after it is the IP address for your internet connection.
