iOS 16 Bug Ruins iPhone Cinematic Mode Support for Final Cut Pro, iMovie

As per the news story by 9to5 Mac, two weeks have already passed since the all-new iOS 16 has started rolling out to millions of iPhone users. However, it seems that some annoying bugs are only getting the shimmer of the spotlight now.

It is worth noting that the latest version of iOS brings various new features, such as widgets on the lock screen and the edit and unsend options on iMessage. Besides these additions, it turns out that the update also comes with various bugs and issues.

And one of the issues that iPhone users are now facing has something to do with the Cinematic Mode, which debuted during the launch of the iPhone 13 series last year.

But this time, upon installing the latest iOS, users are complaining that they could not open Cinematic videos on either the iMovie or Final Cut Pro.

Final Cut Pro and iMovie users experiencing these issues with their iPhone videos have stormed social media platforms like Reddit and the Apple Support forums, 9to5 Mac reports.

The reports say that when they attempt to open a Cinematic video on these editors, an error shows up.

A Reddit post warns other users about the issue. It issues a PSA that tells everyone that “iOS ‘breaks’ Cinematic video in iMovie and Final Cut Pro.”

LONDON, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 24: LONDON, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 24: Apple launches the iPhone 13 in the UK at its Regent Street store on September 24, 2021 in London, England.

The post says that “you can import [Cinematic video] into both iMovie and Final Cut Pro, but the cinematic editor that allows you to change the focal points and depth of field is broken.”

However, 9to5 Mac notes in the same report that there’s no official word yet from Apple. So, it is unclear when and how the renowned tech giant plans to fix it. On top of that, it is still unclear what is causing this iOS 16 bug.

iOS 16

Aside from this Cinematic video bug, the new iOS 16 upgrades iPhones with new features.

According to a recent report by Gizmodo, the latest iPhone software update brings fancy new features along with privacy focused functions.

iOS 16 brings back the battery percentage level icon to iPhone models that started sporting the notch. It also provides a new lockdown mode to prevent hackers from taking over your device.
