Elon Musk acquiring Twitter is a huge buzz these days, but who will be his CEO? It seems that there are rumors that point to Jack Dorsey. However, the twice-former CEO Dorsey is quick to squash these rumors that say he’ll be reinstated as Twitter’s CEO.

MIAMI, FLORIDA – JUNE 04: Jack Dorsey creator, co-founder, and Chairman of Twitter and co-founder & CEO of Square speaks on stage at the Bitcoin 2021 Convention, a crypto-currency conference held at the Mana Convention Center in Wynwood on June 04, 2021 in Miami, Florida.

Dorsey took to Twitter and said, “nah I’ll never be CEO again.”

In another response, he said that “no one ultimately” should be the CEO of Twitter.

Prior to that, Dorsey also had a series of tweets on Monday night that talked about Twitter. One of his tweets says that the company is his “biggest regret.” He also said that one of the right steps he took was to take the company back from Wall Street. Dorsey also lauded current Twitter CEO, Parag Agrawal.

Dorsey is the co-founder of Twitter, and he just quit his Twitter job in November last year. Currently, the former CEO is devoting most of his time to Bitcoin.

Why Jack Dorsey?

Aside from the obvious reasons that he’s one of the men behind Twitter, Dorsey is actually cozy with Musk. Therefore, it’s not impossible if Musk taps him to be CEO if he hasn’t yet. The two also showed up at the same Bitcoin conference last year due to the invitation of Dorsey to Musk.

That doesn’t end there: When Musk was offered a place at the Twitter board that he declined, Dorsey tweeted that he’d wanted Musk on the board for a long time.

Dorsey and Musk also share the same ideas for Twitter, specifically that the algorithms should make Twitter feed more transparent and open-source. They also expressed their issues with the control of the platform over user speech.

Despite Dorsey being “close” to Musk, it’s possible that he won’t want to come back, and it’s also likely that Musk won’t ask the question. In fact, there is a bigger chance that should Musk ask Dorsey, it would be to become some sort of his advisor.

Still, it’s safe to say that with these two, nothing is really off the table.

Is It Over for Parag Agrawal?

Agrawal doesn’t look like he’s going to stay on Twitter for long, especially since Musk has already bought the company.  In his SEC filing, Musk did not specify whom he doesn’t have confidence in within Twitter’s management.

As for Dorsey, he supports Musk and Agrawal, saying that Musks’s vision aligns with Agrawal’s. He said, “Elon’s goal of creating a platform that is ‘maximally trusted and broadly inclusive’ is the right one. This is also @paraga’s goal and why I chose him. Thank you both for getting the company out of an impossible situation.”

Should Agrawal get terminated within 12 months of the change in control of Twitter, he would get an estimated $42 million.

Rumors suggest that Musk will serve as temporary CEO, but that remains unknown.

However, Musk has SpaceX and Tesla to run, which is why it’s more likely that he’ll find someone to take over his newly-acquired company.

So, who will be Twitter’s new CEO? Will it be Musk, Agrawal, or Dorsey?
