Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has just launched the 2022 Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus Edition today, adding a fourth variant to the double cab 4×4 version of the truck. Equipped with several enhancements, the limited-edition Triton Phantom Plus fetches a price of RM139,700, on-the-road, without insurance.

In terms of variant hierarchy, the Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus Edition slots in between the Triton Premium (RM126,900) and Triton Athlete (RM 146,600).

EXTERIOR

The main highlight of the Phantom Plus Edition are the additional styling touches, particularly on the outside. Coming in at RM12,800 more expensive than the Triton Premium, the Phantom Plus Edition adds the following exterior enhancements:

Decorative Roof with LED LightingFront and rear bumper garnish with red accentSide door moulding‘Phantom’ tailgate moulding with rear spoilerSports bar with matte finishingRugged wheel arches18-inch gloss black alloy wheels with Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires‘Phantom Plus’ body decals

Only one colour is offered the Triton Phantom Plus, which is the existing Jet Mica Black. Phantom badges and Phantom-special stickers adorn the truck’s body, so it is easy to tell it apart from other versions of the Triton.

PERFORMANCE

Similar to the previous-generation 2016 Triton Phantom, the 2022 Triton Phantom retains the same powertrain as its ‘normal’ counterparts. The 2.4-litre Turbo Diesel engine produces 181 hp and 430 Nm, and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Like the Premium, the Triton Phantom Plus is equipped with Mitsubishi’s Easy Select 4WD System. Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD System still remains exclusive for the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete.

INTERIOR

Step into the cabin and Phantom embroideries on the front seats will welcome you inside. The full list of add-ons on the interior of the Phantom over the Athlete are as such:

SAFEETY

Safety-wise, the Triton – Phantom Plus Edition comes with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Active Stability Control (ASC), Traction Control (TC), Rest Reminder, Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Trailer Stability Assist (TSA).

The Triton Phantom Plus Edition is also equipped with a Driving Video Recorder (DVR) offered by MMM authorized dealers as standard at all Mitsubishi Motors showrooms nationwide, but active safety features remain unavailable on this variant, just like the Premium.

PRICING

The Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus Edition is priced at RM 139,700 and comes with a five-year/200,000-km warranty. Only 1,000 units are available, so book yours now if a sinister-looking Triton is your vehicle of choice.
