Google is making an all-around effort to better support big-screen devices such as tablets and foldable phones. In line with this, Google is updating a bunch of its Workspace apps and adding drag-and-drop improvements and full mouse support. This could also be because the company is reportedly working on a Google Pixel tablet, which is expected to roll out soon.

In the official workspace blog, Google announced that Google Slides does not support dragging and dropping text and images from one slide to another. In fact, you can perform the action from one slide to another app as well if the other app supports the feature. Since other Google apps also support this feature, it could be beneficial for you when you are working across different Google apps.

Google Drive, the cloud storage app, now allows you to drag and drop files and folders within Drive in both single-window and two-window modes. Previously, it allowed users to drag and drop files and folders to upload them to the drive. Lastly, Google Docs also now fully supports the computer mouse. Meaning you can now select text using the left-mouse click gesture and dragging it.

All of these features introduced for a bunch of Google Workspace apps suggest that Google is getting its apps ready for its soon-to-come big-screen devices. There is no word on when Google plans to launch the Pixel tablet, but it sure is getting things all set before the arrival.

There are rumors that the company could launch the Pixel tablet in 2023, and it would go up against the popular Android tablet from Samsung, the Galaxy Tab S9. Speculations are rife that Google could also launch a ‘Pro’ model of the Pixel tablet as direct competition for the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.
