new bs6 isuzu d-max v-cross to be launched in april 2021

The V-Cross is the more urbane version of the standard Isuzu D-Max pickup. Up until last year, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross was on sale in India. However, when the BS6 emission norms kicked in, the company decided to discontinue the model for good. But, at some point in late 2020, news emerged that the Japanese marque was working on updating the D-Max to meet BS6 norms. And sure enough, Isuzu launched the latest iteration of the D-Max with BS6-compliant engines before the end of 2020. Like clockwork, a few test mules of the new BS6 D-Max V-Cross have been caught. This indicates an imminent launch, probably within the next month or so.

Now, these test mules were barely wearing any camouflage. And that is very common on new vehicles (from many manufacturers) that are just about to be launched. Now, it is the turn of the new V-Cross to make a return to our market. Just like the utilitarian D-Max, the new V-Cross will come with a BS6-compliant powerplant. In this case, it will be a 1.9-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that used to make 148hp and 350Nm of torque in its BS4 avatar. While Isuzu has repurposed this engine to comply with the new emission norms, it is unlikely that it has upped the motor’s output. On the other hand, the new D-Max V-Cross will come with a new 6-speed manual gearbox instead of the old 5-speed unit, along with a 6-speed automatic transmission. That aside, no other major changes are likely.

The exterior of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross gets a butch front face with a large chrome-laden grille and projector headlamps. There is chrome on the fog lamp housing as well, along with even more chrome on the door mirrors, roof rails, door handles, and rear roll bars. Meanwhile, there are some nice touches, such as the LED daytime-running lights in the front and smart-looking multi-spoke alloy wheels. Also, the new V-Cross will only be available in the practical double cab form. Some of the features on the upcoming D-Max V-Cross will be keyless entry with push-button start, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, cruise control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a touchscreen infotainment system.

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will also get ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, Electronic Stability Control, and Traction Control System. In terms of pricing, the older BS4 model retailed for between Rs 16.55 Lakh and Rs 19.99 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). As for the updated BS6 V-Cross, expect to see the cost to go up by approximately Rs 1 Lakh. During its glory days, the pickup truck market in India had the likes of the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway and the Tata Xenon. However, now the new Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is pretty much all by itself.
