  • Four exterior colours
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard
  • Available online now from £16,995

In a world where manufacturers are slimlining model ranges due to production constraints, Citroen has added another new trim level to the C3 lineup that will only be available online. Dubbed the Citroen C3 Shine, this new model sits between the Sense and C-Series Edition trims and boasts plenty of standard equipment, plus an automatic transmission.

Customers can order their new C3 Shine now, with prices starting from £16,995. Citroen has not yet confirmed when the first customer orders will arrive in showrooms, but we understand that supply for the French marque is relatively strong compared to the rest of the industry – the Ford Fiesta is currently unavailable to order. The Shine is now the sixth trim level in the C3’s ever-expanding lineup, with other recent additions including the value-focused ‘YOU!’ and the special edition ‘Elle’ models.

Despite costing less than an entry-level Renault Clio, the funky C3 Shine comes with a high level of equipment. Standard kit includes LED headlights, a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, keyless entry and start, lane departure warning, cruise control, speed limit assist and rear parking sensors.

Citroen is offering the C3 Shine in four exterior colours: Soft Sand, Cumulus Grey, Platinum Grey and Spring Blue. No matter which colour you choose, the C3 Shine gets a black two-tone roof as well as several black details on the wing mirrors and the brand’s signature ‘Airbumps’. Also standard are a set of model-specific 16-inch alloy wheels.

Under the bonnet, the C3 Shine is powered by a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine, mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. With just 82bhp at its disposal, this means the C3 Shine should get from 0-62mph in around 15 seconds, making it best suited to shorter journeys around town. Drivers can expect to return fuel economy figures of around 50mpg, making the Citroen as cheap to run as it is to buy.
