new tata safari waiting period in india touches 2.5 months

Tata Motors introduced the new iteration of the Safari in late February. But even before it was officially launched, several dealerships had already begun accepting bookings for the three-row SUV. The Safari has always been a legendary nameplate for the homegrown automaker. During a time when SUVs were just about catching on, the Tata Safari made Indians grow fond of them. With the arrival of the new Safari, it seems like the company has managed to reel in quite a few folks to the showroom. At present, the waiting period for a Safari in India can be as long as 2.5 months (or 45 days). It is obvious that there are plenty of people who would still love to own a Tata Safari.

The new Safari rivals the likes of the MG Hector Plus

Prices for the new Tata Safari start at Rs 14.69 Lakh for the entry-level XE variant. Meanwhile, the range-topping XZ+ comes in at Rs 21.45 Lakh – both are ex-showroom prices. Competing against cars like the Mahindra XUV500 and MG Hector Plus, the Tata Safari is undeniably the newest of the bunch. As for its waiting period, the longest one might have to wait is in Ghaziabad. This is followed by cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Lucknow, and Noida, where the waiting period can be 2 months. Then there are cities like Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Kolkata, and Surat, with the lowest waiting period of 1 month. Meanwhile, if you are from Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, or Jaipur, expect to wait for around 1.5 months.

Built on the OMEGARC platform, the new Safari is pretty much a larger version of the Tata Harrier. It also comes with the same powertrain and transmission choices as the Harrier. Doing duty underneath the hood of the Safari is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that pumps out 168hp and 350Nm of peak torque. The oil burner can be mated to either a regular 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. For many buyers, the latter would likely be a better option of the two transmissions. To ensure customers are well-protected, Tata has loaded the new Safari with many modern safety features. Its equipment list includes Corner Stability Control, Electronic Stability Program, Traction Control, Roll Over Mitigation, and Hill Hold Control.

The new Safari offers plenty of standard features

Of course, the Safari also gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera. The interior of the new Tata Safari is pretty well kitted-out as well. For instance, there is a panoramic sunroof, leather seat upholstery, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and an 8.8-inch touch-infotainment display that also gets Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Tata’s iRA connected car features. And while the 9-speaker JBL audio system sounds great, the main touchscreen itself is a bit on the smaller side.

The rear design of the new Safari is different from the Harrier

One of the main differences between the Harrier and the Safari comes with the latter boasting a lighter dual-tone interior. And unlike its Harrier sibling, the Safari features an electronic parking brake instead of a physical lever-operated mechanism. Furthermore, the new Safari also sports new LED tail lamps, a revised rear bumper, a slightly different front grille design, and larger 18-inch alloy wheels. If you would like to really stand-out, then the Adventure Persona edition of the new Safari should be to your liking. It gets several blacked-out touches on the outside and a special Tropical Mist exterior paint. For Tata Motors (and prospective buyers), the new Safari is definitely looking like a promising bet.
