- New trim of Ram 1500 TRX incorporates expressive yellow paint
- TRX trucks pack 702 horsepower in their 6.2L supercharged engines
- Havoc will be priced at $120,890 plus destination
If the spectre of piloting a pickup truck with 702 horsepower is simply too understated for your tastes, perhaps slathering the thing in bright yellow paint will add the appropriate amount of visual drama. Enter the Ram 1500 TRX Havoc Edition, a truck which will assault the eyes as violently as it will your favourite off-road course.
“The Ram 1500 TRX Havoc Edition offers another unique way for our passionate customers to separate themselves from the crowd with the segment’s best combination of performance, capability and technology,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO at Stellantis. “We’re always exploring new ideas and looking for ways to offer new content as we continue win over more and more buyers.”

Beyond the marketing platitudes, we’ll tell you the Havoc Edition starts with a TRX loaded with the $9,000 Level 2 Equipment Group (Harman Kardon sound system, rear heated/ventilated seats, heads-up display, and so forth) before dipping the thing in a pot of outrageous Baja Yellow exterior colour and applying a few graphics to the truck’s flanks. Options like a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, spray-in bedliner, and bed step are all part and parcel of the Havoc. And those are 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, if you’re wondering.
Inside, the Havoc includes Prowler Yellow accent stitching (we’ll take callbacks to the ‘90s where we can get them), an embroidered seat logo, and a scattershot of carbon fiber trim accents. Safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and pedestrian emergency braking. All those features are usually options on a standard TRX.
No mention is made of the alterations to the psychotic TRX powertrain, a 6.2L supercharged mill good for 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, other than to describe it as a “proven and reliable” unit capable of “delivering top output for extended driving sessions without degradation in performance”. The latter could be construed as a swing at all-electric trucks, ones which have way more power than the TRX but may suffer performance anxiety after their batteries deplete to a certain level.
Ram 1500 TRX Havoc Edition will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $120,890 plus $2,795 destination when it shows up next year – greedy dealer markups notwithstanding. This is decently in line with a similarly optioned-out non-Havoc TRX, so it seems like Ram isn’t charging out the nose just for the privilege of annoying your neighbours with yellow paint. The Havoc will go on sale early in the first quarter of 2023.
