Retro Bowl is already popular on mobile devices, and it is now set to reach a bigger audience due to the upcoming release on the Nintendo Switch!

Retro Bowl is a pixelated throwback game to old-school football games like Tecmo Bowl that is available on the PC, Google Android, and Apple iOS. You will get to manage your team, draft players, and take to the field to playthrough an entire season on your way to attempting to win the Retro Bowl Championship. The game will now be taking its talents to the Nintendo Switch with some brand new features.
The Nintendo Switch version of Retro Bowl will be available for pre-order in the Nintendo eShop on February 3rd, 2022 at 18:00 CET. Purchasing the game early will allow you to get it for the discounted price of $2.99/£2.69/€2.99. The game will officially release on February 10th, 2022.
If you are already a seasoned Retro Bowl player, you will be very familiar with the game already. However, they have added some new stuff to the Switch version. This includes kickoffs and returns, where you can kick or run back the ball after a score (mobile players will get this feature eventually). You will also be playing with a controller, which is going to be a bit different than the usual touch controls.
Here’s a short unedited video from the Switch version of @retro_bowl , it shows some of the button prompts etc. We think you will get a kick out of this. Pre order coming very soon. pic.twitter.com/OPGvYOp3cz

No doubt long time players will be wondering if they will be able to play as the defense, and as of right now that doesn’t appear to be so. You will be able to go full retro though, because the team has worked hard to make sure the game works with old controllers like the one for NES!
I forgot to mention this yesterday! Was too busy working on it. 🙂 https://t.co/AuSqqiwFY8

If you don’t have a Nintendo Switch but are hoping to play on console, it doesn’t look like you’re in luck right now. However, if this version does well, they have said that it’s possible they could bring it to Xbox or PlayStation in the future.
