tata introduces new arizona blue color option on the tiago hatchback

Launched back in 2016, the Tiago hatchback is the most affordable passenger car that Tata Motors presently makes. It is priced from Rs 4.85 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is sold in four trims – XE, XT, XZ, and XZ+. There is also a Limited Edition variant available with the mid-spec XT trim, and it costs Rs 5.79 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Customers could choose the Tiago in one of the following colors: Daytona Grey, Flame Red, Pearlescent White, Pure Silver, and Victory Yellow. However, Tata Motors has now introduced a new color option called Arizona Blue.

Actually, Arizona Blue is a replacement for the Tectonic Blue color, which used to be available on the Tiago. However, Arizona Blue isn’t exactly a new exterior color for a Tata car. In fact, it was first introduced in the Tigor subcompact sedan, and the shade looks comparable to the Royal Blue color found on the new Safari. Compared to the bright and hip color it replaces, the new shade actually has a more subtle sophistication to it. The Tata Tiago is already a pretty eye-catching little car, not particularly because of its, it has more to do with its 4-star safety rating. In a segment where most cars barely manage half that score, the Tiago’s gleaming safety rating by Global NCAP gave it a solid sales boost.

The Tata Tiago features dual front airbags, Corner Stability Control, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchor points, and rear parking sensors. Meanwhile, the Tiago’s equipment list includes a cooled glovebox, electrically-adjustable door mirrors, a reversing camera, and automatic climate control. Higher trims come with an 8-speaker Harman-branded audio system and a 7-inch touch-infotainment system supporting Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. The Tata Tiago’s exterior design is fairly modern, though its reserved styling won’t strike you as particularly chic or contemporary. However, it does get 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a blacked-out front grille sporting a Tri Arrow pattern, angular headlamps, and boomerang-shaped tail lamps.

The interior of the Tiago is quite decent and offers enough space to carry four adults without any inconvenience. There is enough room for everyone’s head and knees, though sticking a third person in the back might make things uncomfortable. This is mainly down to the fat that the Tiago is quite a narrow car, and as such, is geared more towards carrying four people. Of course, you can carry five people in the Tiago, but then don’t expect them to be too happy about it. One of the other things you might want to check out before buying the Tiago is build and material quality. While Tata cars have gotten much better on these fronts recently, things still aren’t perfect.

Powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, the Tiago offers 85hp and 113Nm of torque. Those numbers aren’t too bad, though the Tiago is not a thrilling driver’s car. However, that is fine and for the most part, this hatchback goes about its business, save for the occasional reminder of its three-pot engine. In terms of its gearbox options, customers can go with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. How much more exciting it would be if Tata were to introduce a sportier version of the Tiago with the turbo-petrol engine from the Altroz i-Turbo! Well, one can always hope…
