tata motors posts domestic sales of 58,473 units in february 2021, records yoy growth of 54 percent!

While the initial part of 2020 was quite decent for Tata Motors, the rest of the year wasn’t the most blessed. However, by the end of the year, the homegrown automaker was able to capitalize on its strong product portfolio. With that in mind, it is quite natural to expect the company to keep raising the bar in 2021 – that is exactly what Tata Motors seems to have in mind, too. The Indian automaker recently published its sales figures for February 2021, and it looks pretty darn impressive! Compared to the 38,002 units sold back in February 2020, last month saw Tata moving 58,473 units. Year-over-year (YoY), which is a growth of 54 percent while also achieving a month-over-month (MoM) growth of 1 percent.

An even more respectable feat comes to light when you check out the company’s sales of its passenger vehicles. So, in February 2021, Tata Motors sold 27,225 units from its passenger vehicles division – the most it has sold in the past nine years. On a year-over-year basis, that equates to a growth in sales of 119 percent, which is just immense! For better context, the automaker was only able to sell 12,430 units in February 2020. Furthermore, there has been some growth in the month-over-month period as well, albeit not by such a wide margin. Tata passenger vehicle sales in January 2021 stood at 26,978 units, which translates to a sales growth in February 2021 of 1 percent (MoM).

There was growth in Tata’s commercial vehicles division as well. In February 2021, the auto major sold 33,966 units when compared to 28,071 units at the same time last year. This indicates a growth of 21 percent, year-over-year. Meanwhile, with 32,909 units sold in January 2021, its month-over-month sales saw a growth of 3 percent. When we talk about the overall growth of sales for Tata Motors, it is hard to ignore the role played by its passenger vehicles. After all, they did do extremely well in February 2021. Among all models, the Tiago hatchback and Tigor subcompact sedan have played a pretty significant role in the overall growth of the company.

With prices starting at Rs 4.85 Lakh for the Tiago and Rs 5.49 Lakh for the Tigor, these are the brand’s most affordable cars. Providing some more upwards thrust is the Tata Altroz, currently the only 5-star rated car in its segment. The stylish hatchback has a price tag of between Rs 5.69 Lakh and Rs 9.45 Lakh.

Furthermore, the introduction of the sportier i-Turbo variant has only made the Altroz’s case that much more appealing. Then there is the equally popular and top-selling Nexon crossover SUV, costing between Rs 7.10 Lakh and Rs 12.79 Lakh. Next up, there is the widely-liked Tata Harrier. This one has a sticker price of between Rs 13.99 Lakh and Rs 20.45 Lakh.

Finally, there is the all-new Safari. If it weren’t for this SUV, Tata wouldn’t have remained in the spotlight for as long as it has been. The Safari nameplate was brought back in late February 2021, much to the joy of many who really wanted one. While it is pretty much an XL version of the Harrier, the new Tata Safari has already been receiving tons of bookings. With a price tag of between Rs 14.69 Lakh and Rs 21.45 Lakh, the Safari is slightly more expensive than the Harrier that it is based on. However, it does come with three rows of seating and also gets a few styling tweaks. Overall, it seems like Tata Motors now has a pretty diversified yet well-balanced range of cars at its disposal.
