At least, that's Elon Musk's goal.

Tesla’s expansion plans around the world show no sign of slowing down. Along with objectives to increase output from facilities in California and Nevada, the automaker also has some big plans in Texas. Outside of the United States, Tesla is also making big moves. Its Gigafactory located on the outskirts of Berlin in Grunheide may have run into a few issues last year, but the project has come a long way since then.

Tesla just hosted a festival at the Berlin-Brandenburg plant. At the glitzy event, Elon Musk said that production at the new location could begin as early as November with the first cars potentially being delivered by December.

“We're aiming to start production in a few months, basically, November or December, and hopefully deliver our first cars in December,” said Musk. “But starting production is kind of the easy part. The hard part is reaching volume production.”

The same sentiment applies to Tesla's Giga Texas plant in Austin, where full production capacity isn't expected to be reached for some time once the facility is completed. At its peak, the Berlin plant could produce up to 10,000 vehicles per week. This is in addition to the battery cells that will be manufactured there.

The Tesla Model Y will be manufactured in Berlin and cater to European buyers who have had to wait significantly longer for the crossover than Americans. Musk previously said that the Model Y will be the best-selling car on the globe next year and the new plant in Germany could play a big part in making that happen.

Although the completion of the Berlin site has been opposed by some locals in the area who have environmental concerns, Musk's big weekend bash and the claim that production could begin next month surely indicates that the facility has overcome these hurdles and is nearly complete.
