The BMW 3 series and the Acura TLX are both excellent vehicles, making it hard to decide which car you want in your life. Both are luxury performance sedans that start around the same price, but, according to Kelley Blue Book, the Acura TLX has three advantages over the BMW 3 Series that you should consider.

2022 Acura TLX | Acura

The Acura TLX has excellent resale value

When you purchase a new car, one of the things to keep in mind is the vehicle’s depreciation rate. When your vehicle has a high depreciation rate, you lose a lot of money when you resell it.

The reasons for the Acura’s low depreciation are its strong reliability and safety ratings. While they have a similar starting price, the starting price for the TLX is about $2,500 below the BMW according to Kelley Blue Book (KBB).

There are many factors that affect a car’s depreciation rate, such as the age and the number of miles on the car. Higher mileage on the car means greater wear and tear, and it will have a shorter lifespan. Other factors include make and model, ownership history, accident history, and the color of the car.

Longer powertrain warranty

A powertrain warranty is a warranty that covers car components that provide the car with power. The components include the drivetrain, engine, and transmission.

As a rule, the warranty only covers manufacturing defects and not damage caused by the driver. The warranty covers the cost of replacing or repairing the components if they stop working due to manufacturing defects.

The basic warranty coverage of both the Acura and the BMW offers coverage for 50,000 miles or four years, but the Acura has a powertrain warranty that lasts six years or 70,000 miles.

You never know when you’ll purchase a vehicle with a manufacturing defect, so an extended powertrain warranty is a good idea. Otherwise, you’ll have to deal with costly repairs or replacement parts that you might not be able to afford.

The Acura TLX offers a more bold look than the BMW

Both the BMW and the TLX are similar in size inside, but the outside is what grabs people’s attention. The Acura is almost 9 inches longer than the BMW, which makes a statement to those who believe bigger is better.

The large cars turn heads, and the brand name and style hold attention as you drive by. A strong car brand means that your car retains more value as it ages, but it also depends on the condition of the car, as well as how much wear and tear it accumulates by the time you sell it.

The more popular and reliable the car, the more people want to drive the car, especially if it’s branded as a luxury vehicle.

If you want a car that has excellent resale value, road presence, and protects you with a more extended powertrain warranty, then the Acura TLX is a clear winner. While the BMW 3 Series offers comfort, looks, and performance, the Acura TLX also comes with safety features such as pedestrian detection, traffic sign recognition, and traffic jam assist.

If you’re still stuck between the two, take a test drive for yourself. This is the easiest way to get a feel for what car is right for you.
