• 2023 Ford GT Mk IV is the final GT variant, and its entirely track-only
  • It’s inspired by the 1967 GT Mk IV race car, and each one will cost US$1.7 million
  • Ford will hand-build just 67, at Markham, Ontario-based Multimatic

Ford has released the final variant of its Ford GT supercar, and it’s a track-only model that takes inspiration from the Le Mans-winning original from 1967. Boasting plenty of aerodynamic kit, a longer wheelbase, and a special twin-turbo EcoBoost engine, the 2023 Ford Mk IV is the most extreme track-ready GT ever produced.

“The original GT Mk IV held nothing back for max track performance, and the new Ford GT Mk IV brings it in the same way,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports, in a prepared statement. “With an even higher-level of motorsport engineering and performance, plus a completely new carbon-fiber body that is functional and striking, the Mk IV is the ultimate sendoff of the third-generation supercar.”

Ford has not released details or performance figures for the Mk IV, but has let on that it’s targeting 800 horsepower – 100 more than the existing GT Mk II car’s – and will use a “proper racing gearbox.” Like the other recent GT versions, the Mk IV represents a partnership between the Blue Oval and Markham, Ontario-based engineering firm Multimatic, which brought along its Adaptive Spool Valve (ASV) suspension for the project.

Ford will produce just 67 units, in honour of the ’67 Le Mans winner, and is trying out a new “client application process” by which it will select those few to be allowed to pay the US$1.7 million required to own one. Buyers will be chosen in the first quarter of 2023, with deliveries to follow later that spring.
