According to our colleagues at 9to5Mac, some iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max restart for no apparent reason while charging. The media confirmed, citing Reddit testimonies, that the restarts occur during both MagSafe and wired charging.

According to a user, his iPhone 14 Pro Max restarts every day as soon as the battery charging is complete. Another has his phone restarting in a loop every 10 to 20 minutes.

The flaw does not appear to exist only in the iPhone 14 Pro running a certain version of iOS. The issue will occur on smartphones running iOS 16.0.1, iOS 16.0.2, or iOS 16.1 beta. For the time being, it is uncertain whether Apple is aware of the issue. In any event, several users claim to have contacted the brand’s customer service.

While we wait for a patch, some users claim to have fixed the problem by removing background app refresh. Simply go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh to disable it.

Resetting their iPhone fixed the problem for other users. This is what the business recommends on its website if any of its own devices, like an iPhone or iPad, restarts for no apparent reason.

Finally, on the suggestion of Apple customer service, several customers propose disabling optimal battery charging. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health > Optimized Battery Charging to disable it. If the issue persists, do not hesitate to contact Apple for a replacement iPhone.

This is not the first problem on the iPhone 14 Pro since its release. Some Verizon customers claim to be having difficulties connecting to the 5G network. Customers of other telcom operators have no problem for the time being.

Simultaneously, some users report that the photo app takes too long to open. The issue only arises while the app is running in the background.

Finally, we should note that Apple has already fixed a bug that was discovered on the iPhone 14 Pro. The Californian company has included a patch in the iOS 16.0.2 update to prevent the primary camera module from shaking when certain third-party apps are used. Let’s hope that Apple will address the remaining flaws identified by users in a future release.
