The 2022 Ford Expedition is an impressive SUV. It’s large and versatile, and there are few rivals that match its size and versatility. It’s also incredibly expensive to fill up thanks to 2022 gas prices, which are especially tough on a large SUV like the Expedition. If you’re willing to pony up for the 2022 Expedition’s purchase price, perhaps this won’t bother you. Here’s what’s great about the 2022 Ford Expedition – and what it will cost you to keep moving. Consumer Reports calculated how much it would cost to fill up the 2022 Ford Expedition (and the other SUVs and trucks on this list) by using the average national fuel price of $4.12 on April 21, 2022.

2022 gas prices mean the 2022 Ford Expedition costs $117 to fill up

Consumer Reports calculated how much it would cost to fill up the 2022 Ford Expedition (and the other SUVs and trucks on this list) by using the average national fuel price of $4.12 on April 21, 2022. It determined that the new Explorer is the most expensive SUV to fill up right now at about $117 for a fill-up. That’s partly because the Expedition has a large fuel tank, at 28.3 gallons. It gets up to 453 miles on a full tank with a range of 11 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

How much does the 2022 Ford Expedition cost?

The 2022 Ford Expedition should start at around $51,000. That’s for the base model 2022 Ford Expedition XL, according to Edmunds. The 2021 Ford Expedition XL starts at $54,570. This comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It also includes a whole lot of goodies, like LED lights, a 12-inch touchscreen, and BlueCruise, which is Ford’s semi-autonomous driving system. This can be used on more than 100,000 highways in North America. The 2022 Ford Expedition XL also has a 4G wireless hotspot and keyless entry with push-button start.

The 2022 Ford Expedition also comes with a six-speaker sound system and is able to handle both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes Ford Co-Pilot360, which is Ford’s safety system. This includes automatic high beams, blind-spot monitor, and lane-keep assist. It also has automatic emergency braking. The 2022 Ford Expedition Max adds even more room, but will cost you. The 2021 Ford Expedition XL Max price is $57,370.

How can I save money on gas?

If you want the 2022 Ford Expedition but you’d also like to find ways to soften its impact on your wallet, Consumer Reports offers some advice. Using a credit card with cash bag rewards may help you save some money, as can using gas price checking apps. Buying your gas at a wholesale club like Costco or BJ’s can also save you some money. Finally, make sure you’re driving carefully and maintaining as even a speed as possible. This helps increase fuel efficiency and may allow you to save a little money at the gas pump.

The 2022 Ford Expedition is a really nice large SUV, and you may be tempted to buy it even though it’s currently the most expensive vehicle to fill up. Still, if it checks all the other boxes of what you’re looking for in an SUV, it may be worth it to you to deal with the current gas prices – and hope that they come down at some point.
