When the average person thinks of muscle cars, their mind automatically goes to Mustangs, Challengers, and Cameros. One doesn’t typically think of a truck topping a best-of list for muscle cars. However, the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX made U.S. News’ List of the 10 Best Muscle Cars. The Ram 1500 TRX wasn’t the only vehicle to land a spot on U.S. News’ list either.

1.) 2022 Ram 1500 TRX as the best muscle car

You may be wondering why this new truck made U.S. News’ list of the 10 Best Muscle Cars. A supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine powers the TRX and pumps out an incredible 702 hp. In fact, it’s the same power unit found under the hood of the Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcats. With the help of launch control, it can go from 0 to 60 in only 4.5 seconds. It’s also great for off-roading. 

The Ram 1500 TRX sounds like a muscle car, so it’s earned a spot on the list. U.S. News also gave it a Performance score of 8.4 out of 10 and an overall rating of 3.1 out of 10. As for how much this new truck costs? Its starting MSRP rings in at $77,780.

2.) 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance, one of the best muscle cars

  • Starting MSRP: $61,995

While the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance isn’t the only Ford Mustang on U.S. News’ list of the best muscle cars, it certainly stands out. But what is it that makes this Ford Mustang model stand out? It’s a fully electric SUV that combines everything you love about the Mustang. The GT Performance features a 260-mile range and can go 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

Next on U.S. News’ list of the best muscle cars is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 392. The Jeep Wrangler 392 features a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces 470 hp and 470 pound-feet torque. That means it goes from 0 to 60 in only 4.5-seconds. This Jeep is also more than ready for your next outdoor off-road adventure. 

4.) 2022 BMW X6 M

  • Performance: 8.0/10
  • Starting MSRP: $109,600

The BMW X6 M comes equipped with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that delivers 600 hp and 553 pound-feet of torque. The engine is hooked to an eight-speed automatic transmission with a dynamic all-wheel drive system. 

According to U.S. News, the BMW X6 M landed a spot on its list of the best muscle cars because of its advanced all-wheel drive system. “Drivers can tune the suspension, steering feel, throttle response, and shift-mapping, all with a push of a button,” U.S. News added.

5.) 2022 Dodge Charger Jailbreak

  • Performance: 7.9/10
  • Starting MSRP: $84,495

The Jailbreak is a special edition Dodge Charger model. It uses the Hellcat’s supercharged HEMI V8 engine to produce a jaw-dropping 807 hp. It is also available in various design packages and has different performance upgrades, making it one of the best muscle cars on U.S. News’ list.

6.) 2022 Ford Mustang Mach 1

  • Performance: 9.3/10
  • Starting MSRP: $54,595

Mustang Mach 1 models offer the same powertrain as the GT with the performance enhancements of the GT500. Powering this pony car is a 5.0-liter V8 engine, which delivers 480 hp. That’s 20 more horsepower than the GT. According to U.S. News, the Mach 1 benefits from performance upgrades like heavy-duty front springs, a larger rear sway bar, magnetic ride control, active exhaust, and Brembo performance brakes.

7.) 2022 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

  • Starting MSRP: $63,000

If you’re a Chevy Camaro enthusiast, then it should be no surprise that the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 made U.S. News’ list of the best muscle cars. Under the hood of the Camaro ZL1 is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates 650 hp and 650 pound-feet of torque. All in all, U.S. News says that the “ZL1 is the top track-ready machine in the Camaro lineup.”

8.) 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

  • Starting MSRP: $76,555

Of course, the Mustang Shelby GT500 earned a spot on U.S. News’ list of the best muscle cars. Powering this new car is a 760 hp supercharged V8 engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It travels from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds, too.

9. 2022 Chevrolet Camaro LT1, one of the best muscle cars

  • Performance: 8.7/10
  • Starting MSRP: $34,000

The Camaro LT1 may impress you. It certainly impressed U.S. News, even landing a spot on its list of the best muscle cars. It comes equipped with a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine that pumps out 455 hp and 455 pound-feet of torque. You can equip yours with a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission, depending on your driving needs.

10. 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack

  • Overall: 8.4/10
  • Performance: 8.0/10
  • Starting MSRP: $44,155

Although this isn’t the mightiest Challenger in the lineup (don’t forget about the Hellcat and Demon), this model will give you the most bang for your buck. According to U.S. News, it’s even one of the best muscle cars of 2022. The Challenger Scat Pack comes equipped with the 485 hp 6.4-liter HEMI, one of the best horsepower-per-dollar offerings you can find.
