There’s no doubt that Samsung – the biggest selling brand worldwide for the last consecutive fifteen years – makes some of the very best televisions money can buy, but these gadgets aren’t exactly portable. With consumers demanding bigger and better screens, it’s highly unlikely that anyone will be picking them up and moving their boxset binge to another room in their homes.
But for anyone who wants that flexibility, one manufacturer has come with the perfect solution to the portability problem – Philips just unveiled two new projectors that are small enough to carry in your pocket but still capable of beaming huge cinema-style images onto your walls.
There are two new models to choose from including the cheaper Philips GoPix 1 and more premium Philips PicoPix MaxTV.
For those wanting a slimline design and wallet-friendly price, the GoPix 1 looks enticing with Philps boasting that this is the thinnest and brightest compact projector on the market.
Despite its diddy size, it can project a 75-inch image onto any surface and even features a built-in speaker so you get the full movie experience. There’s also a battery tucked inside which means you can take it away from the home with this power pack able to keep the content going for around two hours on one charge. The Philips GoPix 1 is available now and costs £299.
Anyone wanting something with a bit more punch, Philips is also launching its new PicoPix MaxTV. This more premium device is capable of producing native 1080p True Full HD resolution which should mean a more pin-sharp image is beamed to your walls.
It also has Android TV built-in offering instant access to popular apps such as Netflix and Disney+. Powerful speakers are packed inside and it gets a bigger battery pack which can last around 4 hours on a single charge.
Philips says that this device is Netflix certified and incorporates the Google Assistant for quick voice search. The Philips PicoPix MaxTV comes with HDMI and USB-C video cables as well as an international charger and is available now starting from £899.99.
Speaking about the new products, Dan Mamane said: “At Philips Projection, we’re always looking to break new ground. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the PicoPix MaxTV, the state-of-the-art product in portable entertainment, and the GoPix 1, the leading-edge smartphone companion. The real first pocket-size projector GoPix 1 offers a beautiful design, with its high durable all-aluminum super-slim body. It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind projector. Both products offer the best viewing experiences and high-end features for ultimate convenience, within two distinct portable projector product lines.”
