As the winter days grow shorter, and the dark closes in, it seems there’s no better time for a good ol’ horror game, if the UK retail charts are anything to go by.
The Callisto Protocol, a spiritual successor of sorts of beloved sci-fi horror game Dead Space, comes in at number two on the Xbox Series X|S charts this week, just below Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and above Sonic Frontiers and FIFA 23. It’s certainly fared better than this week’s other new entry, Need for Speed: Unbound, which, despite being the best new entry in the franchise for some time, only manages to break into the charts at number eight.
Over on Xbox One, The Callisto Protocol manages to come in at number three instead, behind FIFA 23 and GTA V, but ahead of Cyberpunk 2077. There’s also a surprise debut at number eight for the physical combined release of Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality + The Lonely Assassins.
