warhammer 40,000: warpforge reveals two new factions

Everguild, developers of the previous Warhammer-themed game The Horus Heresy: Legions, have announced that their upcoming also Warhammer 40k-themed card game, Warpforge, will feature two previously unknown factions upon launch.

Warpforge was announced only very recently, and has built a lot of hype as it appears to be the Warhammer 40,000 card game that every Games Workshop fan has been waiting for. It appears to take a lot of inspiration from recent success stories card game-wise such as Hearthstone or Legends of Runeterra, but instead, featuring all that grimdark Warhammer universe goodness.

These two new factions that were revealed are hardly surprises to any fan of the universe, as the first is the Ork faction. These are those green little destruction-loving creatures that are obsessed with bad grammar, scrapping together weapons out of random parts, and a lot of chaos and murder. They appear to be an aggression-based faction gameplay-wise, and encourage an aggro style of play.

Then, the Ultramarines. These are the poster children of Warhammer 40,000. You’ve seen them everywhere – big ol’ buff dudes sporting massive blue armour and gruff, chiselled jawlines. These guys are a lot more control-focused, and will likely have a slower style of play based on the few cards we’ve seen revealed thus far.

Both of these factions are good news, as these are two of the most beloved groups amongst nearly all Warhammer fans. Currently, these are the only two confirmed, but it’s a guarantee we’ll slowly see more news about other races roll out as that 2023 release window gets closer.

In the meantime, you can tune into the Warpforge official website for more information on the game, screenshots, and more!
