With a starting cost of around $50,000, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lariat is not a cheap truck. But, at the same time, this is not the pickup you knew from the past. Over the years, full-size trucks have evolved from simple tools to truly luxurious vehicles. And with the F-150 Lariat, that fact is on full display. So for an MSRP of $49,100, what does a 2022 Ford F-150 Lariat get you?

What is the 2022 Ford F-150 Lariat?

The Lariat has long been a mid-level trim for Ford trucks and, in some cases, the top trim. For the 2022 F-150, the F-150 Lariat sits above the XL and XLT packages. When you opt for this trim level, you get a number of luxury features that you might not expect on full-size trucks of the past.

For instance, there is an available 12.0-inch gauge cluster offered to this pickup. This huge digital screen allows you to see and control a variety of modes and features of your 2022 F-150. On the Lariat, this screen is made standard. You can adjust drive modes and keep track of important information, which is pretty cool.

Now, the screens do not stop with the gauge cluster. The Lariat also boasts a 12.0-inch screen in the center dash, which features SYNC 4. SYNC 4 is Ford’s infotainment system, and it features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you’re curious how far trucks have come, there is actually a digital owner’s manual that comes with the F-150 Lariat. And with all the modern touches of this full-size pickup, you might need to take advantage of that.

What engine does the Ford F-150 Lariat have?

The 2022 F-150 Lariat comes standard with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. This powerplant makes 325 horsepower and 400 pound-foot of torque. And it utilizes the same graphite iron that is found in the Super Duty 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine.

Of course, the new Ford F-150 has a range of different engines you can choose from. According to Car and Driver, if you want the power of a V8, you can get it through the 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8. And, you can also opt for the new 3.5-liter PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 if you value efficiency. But, to get those engines, you will have to pay extra. So, that is something to keep in mind.

Should you buy a used F-150 or a new Ford F-150 Lariat?

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lariat is a part of the new generation of F-Series trucks. But, it does cost nearly $50k before options. Frankly, that is some serious money for most shoppers. Although the price of used trucks has gone up in recent years, there are still some good values to be found out there.
