2015 was a banner year for Mopar cars; Dodge introduced the Hellcat, updated the Challenger, and made some tweaks to the beloved Charger sedan. It was certainly a welcome refresh for the horsepower-obsessed car marque. However, given all of the options for the 2015 Dodge Charger like the SRT 392, should you buy one?

Is the 2015 Dodge Charger a good car?

The 2015 Dodge Charger offers a lot to muscle car enthusiasts who want the convenience of a sedan. First, the 2015 Dodge Charger updated the aesthetics of the Mopar flagship inside and out. The new refresh featured a more aggressive squinting front fascia and an LED rear light bar. More importantly, the 2015 Dodge Charger welcomed the then-new supercharged 6.2L Hellcat engine and its 707 horsepower.

Beyond that, the 2015 model year received “good” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in nearly every category overall. The only category in which the Charger failed to score a “good” rating was a driver-side front impact test. Still, the Charger crowd isn’t looking for industry-leading safety.

How fast is a 2015 Dodge Charger?

The entry-level 2015 Charger is down on power compared to its V8-powered trims. The 3.6L Pentastar V6-powered SE and SXT produce 292 horsepower, which isn’t much by today’s standards. However, the 5.7L V8-powered R/T bumps the power up to 370. According to MotorTrend, the R/T is good for a sprint to 60 mph in a little under six seconds.

The 485-horsepower R/T Scat Pack and SRT 392 are quicker than the R/T but not up to the supercharged SRT Hellcat’s standards. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is good for a launch to sixty in just 3.7 seconds on its way to 204 mph, making it the fastest sedan in the world at the time of release.

How much are 2015 Dodge Chargers?

A 2015 Dodge Charger SXT with 50,000 miles has a fair purchase price of $20,941. That’s about two-thirds of the original starting price. According to Kelley Blue Book (KBB), a Dodge Charger R/T demands an average of $25,677. Further up the food chain, the Scat Pack has a fair purchase price of $35,000; the posher SRT 392 demands an extra $3,643 on average.

However, getting your hands on the hellaciously quick Hellcat will demand more money. A 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has a fair price of $48,387. Still, that’s a wild bargain for a four-door car that will cross the 200 mph barrier.

Should you buy one?

Whether it be the Charger or the Challenger, the SRT Hellcat gets a lot of hate. However, the performance figures don’t lie, and the Charger SRT Hellcat is one of the market’s best sports sedan performance bargains. Still, the 6.4L V8-powered SRT 392 brings copious cubic centimeters to a reasonably affordable four-door Mopar.
