People pass by a booth of Google at the re:publica 2022 digital media convention in Berlin, on June 9, 2022.

However, it appears that Pixel smartphone users have to deal with a huge catch once they get their hands on the latest version of the mobile operating system of Google, Android.

Google Pixel and Android 13

As per the recent news story by The Verge, Google started rolling out the latest Android 13 to its flagship smartphone, Pixel, no less than the renowned search firm has confirmed.

The news outlet highlights that the release of the major Android update is pretty much earlier than its predecessors.

The Verge notes that the Android 12 debuted around October last year, whereas the rollout of the Android 11 was a bit earlier as Google released it in September 2020.

On the other hand, the all-new Android 13 officially arrives on Pixel phones as early as August.

All that said, owners of Pixel mobile devices, such as the Pixel 6 series, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, and Pixel 6 Pro.

According to the latest report by Android Police, the new Google OS update also supports older Pixel phones, starting from the Pixel 4, and 4a. Not to mention the Pixel 5 and 5a are also getting the latest Android.

So if you own a Pixel 3 or 3a, you are stuck with Android 12 as Google ends its software support.

However, it is to note that installing the new Android 13 update on Pixel phones comes with a drawback.

Pixel 6 Users with Android 13 Could NO Longer Downgrade

As per the latest report from XDA Developers, Google Pixel 6 phone owners could no longer downgrade their devices to older versions of Android once they get the latest OS update.

The media website says that the factory images page of the all-new Android 13 issued a warning to users of Pixel 6 phones.
