There are times when even the most well-choreographed plan doesn’t go as it should. That is exactly what seems to have happened with the launch of the made-in-India 2021 Jeep Wrangler being delayed. A few weeks ago, the American automaker had confirmed that it will be unveiling the locally assembled 2021 Wrangler on March 15. However, due to “some organizational priorities”, Jeep has had to postpone the event to March 17. Of course, a delay of two days isn’t that big of a deal, and those excited to see the Wrangler will remain on the edge of their seats anyway.

Jeep had started the assembly of the 2021 Wrangler at its plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. Moreover, dealerships had opened their order books soon after the assembly news floated to the surface. Unlike before, where Jeep was dispatching the Wrangler to India as Completely Built Units (CBUs), the new ones will be sold via the more preferred Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. And it was clear that the CBU way was raising the cost of the Wrangler a bit too much. In fact, the least expensive variant of the Jeep Wrangler was priced at Rs 63.94 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). And despite such a steep asking price, Jeep India was still getting inquiries from interested buyers.

Therefore, it made sense for Jeep to bring over the 2021 Wrangler in kits and then assemble it here locally. Not only would this allow the company to drive down the price of its most popular SUV, but it would also get them some extra brownie points.
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler coming to India will be offered only in its more practical Unlimited avatar. There will be a couple of trim levels to choose from, with the Rubicon likely being the most expensive. The Wrangler will come with several modern features such as remote engine start, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a 7-inch part-digital instrument cluster. Tagging along will be other items like an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and an Alpine premium audio system.

Keeping occupants safe in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler will be a tire pressure monitoring system, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descend Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Electronic Stability Control, and four airbags. There will also be a reversing camera with rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and Trailer Sway Control. In our market, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler will come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that cranks out 268hp and 400Nm of torque. As expected, the Wrangler gets a four-wheel-drive system with locking differentials and a low-speed transfer box. In this case, assisting the engine in spinning all four wheels will be an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
