At the Nurburgring, of course.

Land Rover is being frustratingly secretive about the next-generation Range Rover. Our spies have caught the new Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and more recently the new Range Rover Sport SVR out testing, but the automaker has done a good job disguising the design with thick layers of camouflage.

Slowly, however, the Range Rover's new face is being unmasked. Once again, the new SVR has been spotted lapping the Nurburgring. Since our last sighting, some of the camouflage has dropped at the front, partially revealing the front and lower grille and prominent front air intakes. The prototype's quad exhaust system clearly indicates we're looking at the hot SVR model.

The new Range Rover Sport SVR will also feature slimmer headlights and Velar-style taillights, but the design changes will otherwise be mostly evolutionary. That's not at all a bad thing.

Under the hood, the new Range Rover SVR will reportedly be powered by a twin-turbo V8 supplied by BMW producing around 600 horsepower. We know it's capable of producing at least 625 hp in the mighty X5 M. This will be a welcome boost over the current model which boasts a 575-hp supercharged V8. In the current SVR, all that power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The additional power will definitely make the next SVR faster than the current version, which accelerates from 0-60 mph seconds in 4.3 seconds and maxes out at 176 mph. Underpinning the new Range Rover Sport will be Land Rover's Modular Longitudinal Architecture that supports combustion, mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric powertrains. Inside, we're bound to find SVR-branded seats as well as a larger touchscreen and a fully digital gauge cluster.

We figured the next Range Rover will be getting the SVR treatment, and it's great to see spy shots confirming this. The new Range Rover will debut later this year, so the next-generation Range Rover Sport and its SVR sibling probably won't break cover until next year sometime.
