Apple Is Celebrating Black History Month With the Launch of the ‘Black Unity Sport Loop’ Watch Band and More

In honor of Black History Month, Apple has unveiled a new Black Unity Sport Loop, watch face, and iPhone wallpaper. The mosaic-inspired patterns pay respect to the Pan-African flag by utilizing the colors red, green, and black. Geometric patterns in the colors black, red, green, and yellow are present on the Unity Mosaic watch face and change as the minutes pass. There is also a Unity wallpaper for the iPhone lock screen.
App Store
A new Unity Sport Loop for Apple Watch, a watch face that matches the iPhone background, and apps and games that support Black communities in gaming, banking, and are all part of Apple’s celebration of Black History Month. The app store will also highlight applications that promote financial wellness, address housing inequality, and honor fifty years of hip-hop subculture.
Apple Music
Apple Music will emphasize the many ways in which Black artists have shaped and influenced culture and music, highlighting their contributions in areas such as improvisation, reinvention, and healing across all genres. They will highlight the contributions of Black artists on Apple Music with playlists like ‘For Us, By Us’ that showcase resilience and resistance.
Apple TV App
The Apple TV app will feature curated collections of series and films, handpicked by Dr. Jelani Cobb, a renowned journalist and dean at Columbia University, with a theme of “The Matter of Black Lives.” These collections will delve into stories that highlight themes of “Freedom in Black,” “The Mosaic,” and “Love in Spite Of,” and offer viewers a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Black experience.

Apple News will feature a variety of content about the Black experience in America throughout the month, including interviews, articles, and audio stories from top journalists and Black-led newsrooms such as Capital B, NewsOne, Essence, and Howard University’s The Hilltop. These curated collections will offer diverse perspectives and in-depth analyses of the topic.
Apple Books
By highlighting its selection of works by Black authors, Apple Books will provide listeners and readers with a wide selection of audiobooks and books in a variety of genres.
Apple Fitness +
Fitness Plus is getting in on the Black History Month celebration by offering new workouts that feature playlists honoring Black musicians, as well as a meditation session led by trainer Joanna Hardy, specifically created to commemorate the occasion.
