Samsung Galaxy S23 series will support recording 8K@30fps video
With regards to the camera of this new coming flagship, there are reports that this device ma just be the industry’s mobile phone new camera king. As the launch of the new series get closer, more and more speculations are surfacing. In a recent Tweet, popular Twitter tech blogger, @iceuniverse reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will bring support for 8K@30fps video recording. The Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, and Galaxy S22 series support 8K 24fps video recording. Thus, 8K videos shot with the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra will be smoother.
Many other smartphones already support 30fps video recording at 8K resolution, but this is a first for Samsung. With the 1TB option, Samsung is a bit generous with storage. This is because users who want 8K videos need to know that this consumes a lot of space. Other rumours suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will support sensor-shift OIS, similar to the technology used by the iPhone 14 Pro, to improve image stabilization. Some other reports claim that photos taken on the Galaxy S23 series will feature white balance and saturation improvements.
Galaxy S23 confirmed to replace Snapdragon chip
Qualcomm and Samsung are two major players in the mobile chip market. However, Qualcomm has always been ahead of Samsung. The Exynos chips from Samsung do not seem to quite be at the same level as Snapdragon chips. For some regions, Galaxy flasghips always come with Snapdragon chips. But other markets like the European market receive Galaxy flagships with Exynos chips. Qualcomm had previously hinted that Samsung’s next-gen flagship phone, the Galaxy S23 series, will all use Snapdragon processors. The recent running score of this upcoming mobile phones seems to confirm this statement.
The European version of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (SM-S918B) recently appeared on the GeekBench 5 database. The CPU info shows that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be used in this device. This is the over-clocked exclusive version hitting 3.36GHz. The single core running score is 1504 while the multi core running score is 4580.
In the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, the North American, South American, Chinese, African and Indian versions are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors. However, the European version and some specific Asian market versions are equipped with Exynos 2200 processors.
With the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra switching to the Snapdragon chip, it seems that the last “territory” of Exynos is gone. However, this seems to be a good thing for European users. After all, the Exynos 2200 processor of the Samsung Galaxy S22 has received many poor reviews in terms of performance and user experience.
